Veteran’s Edge

Massachusetts Fallen Heroes designed the Veteran’s Edge program to provide Veterans easy access to a variety of programs and services. Veteran’s Edge offers a streamlined intake process so that our staff can quickly identify what type of assistance will best help each Veteran. Whether it be assistance with workforce development, civil service employment, disability compensation, housing or a referral to one of our partners in the Veteran Service Community, our staff is able to act quickly and concisely to assist that Veteran.

We have taken a new innovative approach to Veteran outreach by not only assisting the Veteran with his or her current issue but also making follow up a priority so that we can be there for any future issues. This follow up allows us to build a large community of Veterans that are all connected through our organization. A Veteran may contact us about a disability claim but through that request for assistance they will become a part of the Mass Fallen Heroes Veteran community and will have access to a wealth of other programs and services as well as a connection to hundreds of other Veterans within the Commonwealth.

Veteran’s Edge Programs

Mass Fallen Heroes assists Veterans and Gold Star Family Members in achieving higher employment levels through acceptance through apprenticeship programs and job training workshops.

Mass Fallen Heroes works closely with our partners at the Boston Bar Association and The Disability Law Center to ensure that Veterans who feel they are being discriminated against due to there military service receive the proper legal representation. We utilizethe United States Equal Employment Opportunity Employment Commission (EEOC) and The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA) to protect Veterans from discrimination before, during and after the hiring process in federal, state, municipality or private sector employment.

Mass Fallen Heroes has developed several programs that help Veterans cope with PTSD and provides easy access to crisis centers in the event a Veteran feels suicidal. Mass Fallen Heroes provides Veterans with the opportunity to attend Onsite Academy to receive treatment and coping techniques for PTSD and the depression it causes. Onsite Academy and the RESTORE Program is an excellent resource and receives tremendous feedback from all those who have participated.  We have also partially funded a RESILIENCE seminar developed by Mass Fallen Heroes and O2X for education about the symptoms, signs and treatment of PTSD.

Mass Fallen Heroes works hard to ensure that all Veterans have access to affordable Legal Representation and in some cases will provide financial assistance. We partner with the Boston Bar Association and the Disability Law Center. We also have a network of attorneys that offer discounted or pro bono legal assistance to Veterans in a wide array of legal fields including criminal, financial, employment and discrimination.

Mass Fallen Heroes prides itself on providing expert assistance in cases involving the Civil Service hiring process. We offer guidance from the beginning of the process to the end. We have had great success utilizing USSERA and the EEOC in ensuring that Civil Service follows the letter of the law and does not discriminate against Veterans due to their military service or injuries they received while serving.

Mass Fallen Heroes understands the importance of Veterans receiving the proper disability compensation rating from the VA. We also know first hand of the difficulties returning Veterans face when applying for these benefits. We have developed a process that allows a Veteran to utilize Mass Fallen Heroes as the first step to getting the proper award. We act as a satellite of our partners at Veteran Advocacy Services and Disabled American Veterans Dept. Of MA to get a Veterans claim off the ground. We provide the proper VA forms and assist in filling them out, we ensure that all pertinent documents are copied and that the Veteran has an organized set of copies for themselves. We then send these forms top one of our two partners and ensure that the proper action is taken. We act as an advocate for the Veteran ensuring that our partners are available for questions and that they handle the claim in a timely manner.

Mass Fallen Heroes provides Veterans with many opportunities to to build friendships bond and share their experiences with each other. We have funded ten Veterans to receive scuba certifications including open water and pool dives through Operation Blue Pride. Throughout the year we have numerous concerts, boat cruises, dinners and outings in the hopes that Veterans can find each others presence, comradery and friendship constructive.
