Curaleaf to Launch Veterans Cannabis Project Initiative in Massachusetts at Hanover Medical Dispensary

Customers can purchase custom Veterans Cannabis Project pre-rolls to support veterans’ access to medical cannabis beginning on March 12, 2020

Wakefield, MA – Curaleaf Holdings, Inc. (CSE: CURA /OTCQX: CURLF), a leading vertically integrated cannabis operator in the United States, today announced it will launch Massachusetts sales of its custom-designed Veterans Cannabis Project pre-roll product. A portion of all proceeds will benefit the Veterans Cannabis Project (VCP), an organization that advocates for legal and supported access of medical cannabis for veterans through the Department of Veterans Affairs. In Massachusetts, the single boxes are available for $35.

Each box contains five pre-rolls (0.4g each). A portion of the proceeds will also benefit Massachusetts Fallen Heroes, a non-profit organization to honor the memories of our fallen, to support Gold Star Family members, and to empower local veterans and educate our communities.

On March 12, the day of the project launch, any veteran medical patient will be allowed to purchase their first VCP package for only $1. Also as part of the launch, Curaleaf will increase its regular veteran discount from 10% to 22% while increasing the discount for 100 percent disabled veterans from 22% to 40% for each purchase.  Curaleaf has locations in Hanover, MA; Provincetown, MA; Oxford, MA and coming soon to Ware, MA (3/14/20).

“Even though marijuana is legal here in Massachusetts and in the majority of the United States, 20 million veterans are unable to access medical cannabis to help them cope with a number of physical and mental health issues including PTSD,” says Joe Lusardi, CEO, Curaleaf. “The Veterans Cannabis Project (VCP) strives to bring additional visibility to this important issue to help millions of veterans across the United States and those here in Massachusetts to have greater access to high quality medicinal cannabis they want and deserve.”

U.S. Air Force veteran Doug Distaso is the Executive Director for the Veterans Cannabis Project.

“As a veteran who lives the post-service struggle and was lucky enough to escape the dangerous opioids prescribed to me, I try to make those who are struggling more comfortable searching for help,” Distaso says. “Cannabis helped me alleviate my symptoms and it has helped my fellow combat veterans as well.”

“We thank Curaleaf for including us in its mission,” says Dan Magoon, Executive Director for Massachusetts Fallen Heroes. “Their donations and continued support will allow us to fund a number of different initiatives aimed to empower our veterans community in the years to come.”

Curaleaf launched the Veterans Cannabis Project initiative in Maryland, Maine, New Jersey, Nevada, Oregon and Arizona in 2019. The company will continue rolling out the program at Curaleaf dispensaries across the United States.

Curaleaf Massachusetts operates two adult-use dispensaries in Provincetown and Oxford and two medical only dispensaries in Hanover and Oxford (co-located with the adult-use store). A third adult-use dispensary is scheduled to open in Ware, Massachusetts this spring. Curaleaf currently employs 65 people at its national headquarters in Wakefield, MA and another 150 employees at its local Massachusetts operations.
